Luxury vinyl planks show off an attractive wood look

If you like a hardwood look but prefer a different flooring material, consider choosing pet-friendly luxury vinyl planks. This is an especially good flooring choice for a basement or bathroom, where hardwood is not appropriate. Routine care is easy, and spills can be cleaned up with the wipe of a cloth or damp mop. State 48 Floors, located in Tempe, Arizona, has a wide selection of flooring that includes luxury vinyl. We install the products we sell in our showroom.

LV Lifestyle Benefits

Core layer

The toughest luxury vinyl plank flooring, or LVP, brands are waterproof. These waterproof brands usually have a wood-plastic composite core or a stone plastic composite core. The main component in WPC cores is wood byproducts while SPC cores contain limestone. Waterproof LVP tolerates standing water for long periods. Planks won’t warp, buckle, or peel, and the floor’s lifespan won’t be affected. Waterproof flooring is ideal for pet owners and active households.

Wear layer

Since the transparent wear layer protects the design layer from scratches, stains, and other damage, thicker is better. It’s wise to choose the best quality wear layer available because once it is worn down and the design layer is damaged, the flooring must be replaced. Plank thickness is measured in mm while the amount of wear on a plank is measured in mil. Look for a plank that is 8 mm or thicker and a wear layer that is 20 mil or higher.
