Judging durability
It’s easy to judge the durability of any brand of this flooring by looking at its AC rating. An independent company assigns the abrasion coefficient rating based on a series of tests. A product must pass all tests before it enters the marketplace. Flooring is tested for its resistance to stains, impacts, abrasion, and burns as well as swelling under moist conditions. AC3 laminate is appropriate for all areas of the home.
Standard vs waterproof
Water will pool on the surface of standard laminate floors. Since this flooring cannot tolerate standing water, it should be cleaned up immediately. Laminate marked ‘waterproof,’ on the other hand, will not be damaged by standing water as long as it is cleaned up in a reasonable amount of time. The manufacturer specifies in the product guidelines how this period is defined. Usually, water must be cleaned up in about one day or damage may occur.
